Edge4iwelli – VEDLIoT

Project Overview

Edge4iwelli was developed within the VEDLIoT framework to enhance home care services through edge computing and distributed AI. Building on the existing iwelli IoT care package, the pilot addressed the limitations of cloud-dependent healthcare services—such as latency, security concerns, and resource inefficiency—by moving selected intelligence and analysis functions closer to the home environment.

Syndesis Contribution

• Extended the iwelli IoT care package with edge computing capabilities
• Integrated advanced AI modules for local analysis and decision support in home care settings
• Supported the development of a more secure and efficient IoT care platform
• Explored proof-of-concept applications in edge computing, optimisation, and machine learning for home environments
• Contributed to new tools such as a health smart mirror for healthcare monitoring in smart homes
