Project Overview

RuralMed-AI addresses a key challenge in Europe’s rural and remote regions: supporting general practitioners who work with limited connectivity, high workloads, and fragmented patient information. Building on Syndesis’ iWelli healthcare ecosystem and the EdgeMind AI platform, the pilot develops an AI-powered decision-support system tailored to healthcare environments where connectivity, continuity of care, and data sovereignty are critical.

Syndesis Contribution

  • Development of AI-driven triage and prioritization workflows for rural healthcare settings
  • Integration of LLM-based patient summarization from fragmented medical records
  • Deployment of offline-first, edge-enabled AI inference for low-connectivity environments
  • Adaptation of the iWelli ecosystem and EdgeMind platform to rural clinical use cases
  • Validation of human-centric AI support in collaboration with local healthcare professionals and municipalities
